Honorary Professor appointed to group that strengthens the translation of science into policy

Robyn Alders

Honorary Professor Robyn Alders, AO has been appointed to the WOAH–PREZODE One Health Science-Policy Dialogue Working Group. This is an influential group that bridges scientific research, public policy, and practical action to help prevent future pandemics and zoonotic diseases.  

The group was created jointly by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) and the Preventing Zoonotic Disease Emergence (PREZODE) under the One Health approach, which recognizes that human, animal, and environmental health are interconnected. It aims to strengthen the translation of science into policy and action, particularly on prevention and aims to contribute to: 

  • Encouraging the adoption of One Health principles at global and regional levels 

  • Supporting the integration of scientific evidence into policy formulation 

  • Supporting dialogue between policy, science, and operational actors 

  • Advancing concrete solutions to prevent zoonotic disease emergence

Robyn Alders is a veterinarian and an Honorary Professor with the ANU Development Policy Centre, ANU Institute for Climate, Energy and Disaster Solutions (ICEDS) and Veterinary Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health, Tufts University.
