ABARES Productivity: New estimates of farm productivity and Climate-Adjusted Productivity measures

This public lecture will showcase the latest ABARES farm productivity release, highlighting key observations and trends. Productivity concepts, methods and measurement processes will provide context for how ABARES derives these leading-edge estimates. Analysis of productivity characteristics, drivers, as well as future work will also be explored. Finally, new developments in the ABARES Climate Adjusted Total Factor Productivity estimation process will be unpacked. A key takeaway will be how to apply machine-learning in a real-world production environment: including experiences in building robust products under data and modelling uncertainty, and the need for effective model governance.
