How can China's industrial sector achieve deep emissions reductions while maintaining economic growth and industrial competitiveness?

Please join us for a seminar on the topic of China's pathways to industrial decarbonisation. The seminar will explore developments in China's climate, energy and industrial transition, with a particular focus on steel sector decarbonisation, low-carbon supply chains, and opportunities for Australia–China collaboration.

We will be joined by special guests from Professor Xiliang Zhang's team at Tsinghua University, one of China's leading centres for research on climate change, energy systems and industrial decarbonisation.

This event forms part of an ongoing collaboration between the Centre for Climate and Energy Policy (CCEP) at the ANU Crawford School of Public Policy and the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economy (3E Institute), Tsinghua University.

Program

  • Professor Xiliang Zhang (Tsinghua University): presentation on China's climate, energy and industrial transition, and emerging policy and research priorities for achieving carbon neutrality.
  • Dr Xian Jiaqing (Tsinghua University): presentation on low-carbon pathways for global steel supply chains and modelling analysis using the China-in-Global Energy Model (C-GEM).
  • Professor Frank Jotzo (CCEP, ANU): presentation on CCEP's Australia–China research collaborations and current work on industrial decarbonisation, green iron and steel, climate policy and energy transition.

A light refreshment will be provided after the seminar. Please let us know if you can attend.

We look forward to welcoming you.
