Organised by the ANU Indonesia Project in collaboration with LPEM FEBUI and The SMERU Research Institute, this forum brings together distinguished ANU PhD alumni to share their policy-relevant research and insights.

Event Speakers

Deasy Pane
Deasy Pane is Senior Planner at BAPPENAS, where her work centres on economic issues, with a particular focus on trade policies. She is a Senior Fellow at the Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS). Her research interests include development economics, international trade, industry and public policy.

Abdurohman
Abdurohman is Deputy Director of the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), responsible for overseeing AMRO’s functional surveillance in financial & fiscal areas. Before joining AMRO, he was Director of the Centre for Macroeconomic Policy at the Fiscal Policy Agency of the Ministry of Finance.

Arief Anshory Yusuf
Arief Anshory Yusuf is Professor in Economics, Universitas Padjadjaran and member of the National Economic Council. He has published widely in the area of natural resource and environmental economics, poverty and inequality, and economy-wide modeling.

Riatu Qibthiyyah
Riatu Qibthiyyah is Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI). She was Head of LPEM FEB UI and Chair of FEB UI Department of Economics Undergraduate Program. Riatu's expertise is in public finance and public policy with focus on fiscal policy, intergovernmental transfers, and regulatory impact assessment.

Asep Suryahadi
Asep Suryahadi is Senior Research Fellow at The SMERU Research Institute after being Head of SMERU (2009-2019). Asep has published widely in top international journals and is one of Indonesia's most prominent economists doing research in the field of poverty and inequality. Asep holds a doctorate in economics from ANU.

Jonathan Gilbert
Jonathan Gilbert is Minister Counsellor for Economic, Investment and Infrastructure, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Indonesia. Jonathan has 20 years of experience in senior management, high-level advocacy, foreign and trade policy, and crisis management. He was formerly the Australian Ambassador to Kuwait.

LPEM FEB UI
