Marking the kickoff of the ANU Indonesia Project’s 60th anniversary celebrations, this special PhD student seminar explores the theme of Policy Making in Indonesia, highlighting research from three emerging scholars. Gita Putri Damayana examines the regulatory framework that shapes policy making in Indonesia, Joshua Walker offers a sociological perspective on the country’s energy transition and electric vehicle (EV) policy, and Dyah Pritadrajati discusses social policy from an economic standpoint. Each presenter will have 20 minutes to present, followed by a 30-minute Q&A session. The session will be chaired by Ed Aspinall. This event reflects the ANU Indonesia Project’s ongoing commitment to supporting scholarly dialogue on Indonesia’s development and governance and supporting the next generation of Indonesianists.
Event Speakers
Gita Putri Damayana
Gita Putri Damayana is a PhD candidate in School of Regulation and Global Governance. Her main research areas are law and regulatory reform, legislative process and civic space.
Joshua Walker
Joshua Walker is a PhD Candidate at the ANU School of Sociology. His research examines changing class relations and spatially uneven development, with a focus on Indonesia's 'automotive corridor'.
Dyah Pritadrajati
Dyah Pritadrajati is a PhD candidate in Economics at the Australian National University (ANU) and a Fox International Fellow at Yale University (2024–2025). Her research focuses on gender, labour, and social policy, examining how childcare, family structure, and social programs intersect to shape women’s economic outcomes in Indonesia.
