Commissioned by the Rudd Government, the Henry Tax Review undertook a major examination of the taxation system in Australia, making over 100 recommendations to government in December 2009. Arguably the most contentious of these, the now legislated Mineral Rent Resources Tax changed the landscape of public debate of public policy in this country.

This forum features:

> Dr Ken Henry AC – Currently Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, leading the development of a White Paper on Australia in the Asian Century, and Executive Chair, Institute of Public Policy, Crawford School, ANU. Dr Henry headed the Henry Tax Review while Secretary to the Treasury, a position he held for a decade.

> Dr John Hewson - A distinguished business and academic economist, leader of the Federal Coalition Opposition party from 1990 to 1994 and currently an acute observer and analyst of the Australian political landscape.

> Professor Patricia Apps - CurrentlyProfessor of Public Economics and Director of Research, Faculty of Law, University of Sydney, Adjunct Professor, Australian National University, and Adjunct Professor, University of Technology, Sydney.

> Professor John Freebairn - Joining The University of Melbourne in 1996, Professor Freebairn was Head of Department from 1997 – 2002 and Director of the Melbourne Institute from April 2005 to April 2007. In 2008 he was appointed as the Ritchie Chair.

This forum will be chaired by Emeritus Professor Bob Gregory from the ANU. Professor Gregory is a graduate of the University of Melbourne and the London School of Economics and Political Science. He is currently Emeritus Professor of Economics at the Australian National University.
