Crawford School Dialogue:
Health Care Reform and Policy Implementation
Tuesday 6 July, 9.00am - 12.30pm
Springbank Room, J G Crawford Building 132, Lennox Crossing, ANU
The Forum will bring together the Canberra policy community and engage on important policy concerns. The theme for this half-day Forum is ‘Health Care Reform and Policy Implementation’. This Forum will explore the strategic and economic aspects of this theme through presentations by leaders in the public service as well as academic experts from the Crawford School at ANU and other leaders in the health reform field.
Despite the sweeping changes to Australia's health system, considerable gaps and unanswered questions remain. Some experts believe that, if handled well, many issues can be resolved during the implementation stage. Is there room for improvement in the health reform package? Leading health care experts suggest changes need to be considered both for the structure and financing of the reform.
The first session of the forum will look at the case for Australia’s current health care reform and the second session of the morning, two of the Crawford Faculty – Dr Adrian Kay and Dr Ann Nevile will address the general problem of the implementation gap between policy-as-designed and policy-as-executed.
