At this public forum, participants with research expertise in polling and political analysis will critique the role of polls in the current political environment.

This forum features:

> Mr Martin O’Shannessy - CEO of Newspoll, Mr O’Shannessy has over 20 years senior management experience in market and social research, economics and consulting. Currently President of the Association of Market and Social Research Organisations (AMSRO) he is the co-author of two recent books on business in Australia.

> Professor Ian McAllister - From 1997 until 2004, Professor McAllister was the Director of the Research School of Social Sciences at the ANU and is currently Distinguished Professor of Political Science at The Australian National University. He has previously held chairs at the University of New South Wales and the University of Manchester.

> Mr Andrew Catsaras - With over 25 years experience in the marketing profession as a strategic marketing consultant, Mr Catsaras has also taught marketing at the University of NSW for 10 years. He appears regularly in the media and until the next Federal election, Mr Catsaras will present the ‘Poll of Polls’ on ABC TV’s ‘The Insiders’ at the end of each month.

> Ms Lyndal Curtis - is the Political Editor for ABC News 24 and leads the channel’s coverage of Federal politics. Lyndal has reported on Federal politics for nearly twenty years and has worked for ABC Radio News, Radio Current Affairs, TV News, Radio National and ABC Online.

This forum will be hosted by Mr Paul Barclay of ABC Radio National, and will be recorded for broadcast on the ABC radio RN and TV program, ‘Big Ideas’.
