Often overlooked as a player in the emerging Indo-Pacific order, Russia has firmly set its sights on adopting a stronger future role in Asia. What does this mean for the region, for major and smaller powers, and for Australia? Join our expert panel to explore the prospects and implications of Russia’s regional pivot, in terms of regional geopolitics, the rules based order, and Russia’s commercial posture in the region.
Dr Jennifer S. Hunt is a lecturer at the National Security College and an affiliate of the US Studies Centre. She researches cyber enabled disinformation, particularly Russian interference in recent US elections. She holds two grants on cyberwar and tracking propaganda across on and offline terrains.
Matthew Sussex is Associate Professor at the National Security College, ANU. His research specialisations include Russian foreign and security policy, information warfare, and international security. His latest book (with Michael Clarke and Nick Bisley) is The Belt and Road Initiative and the Future of Regional Order in the Into-Pacific (2020).
Elizabeth Buchanan is Lecturer in Strategic Studies with Deakin University for the Defence and Strategic Studies Course (DSSC) at the Australian War College, and a Fellow of the Modern War Institute at West Point. Dr. Buchanan holds a Ph.D. in Russian Arctic strategy from the Australian National University, and was also a PaG Visiting Maritime Fellow at the NATO Defense College.
Ian Hall is Professor of International Relations and the Deputy Director (Research) at the Griffith Asia Institute at Griffith University. His most recent book is Modi and the Reinvention of Indian Foreign Policy (2019).
