On 12 December, 2015, the Paris Climate Agreement was signed by 197 countries, representing every nation on Earth. Now, almost five years later, how is the world tracking to meet the targets set out in the agreement? How are countries ratcheting up climate action? Are we doing enough to reach our climate action goals, and if not, what could be improved? The next round of global climate negotiations, Conference of the Parties (COP) 26, were due to take place in Glasgow, Scotland in November 2020, but have been postponed for a year due to the COVID pandemic. This event will highlight leadership and commitment to climate action around the world and discuss how this will play into the Glasgow COP.

Join us to hear from Dr John Murton, Special Envoy for COP 26 from the Government of the United Kingdom; Tosca Barucco, Special Envoy for COP 26 from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; and Prof Frank Jotzo, Director of the Centre for Climate Economics and Policy at Australian National University. The Honorable Julie Bishop, Chancellor of The Australian National University and former Minister for Foreign Affairs, will give an introductory address. This online event is being co-organised by the British High Commission in Australia, the Italian Embassy in Australia, and The Australian National University Climate Change Institute.
