Please join us for an upcoming RE&D Research Notes webinar, hosted by the Resources, Environment and Development group (RE&D), Crawford School of Public Policy. Professor Sango Mahanty  will present highlights from a collaborative paper on Rupture: dramatic nature-society transformations associated with hydropower. 

Sango Mahanty will present from a collaborative paper, prepared with Sarah Milne, Keith Barney, Wolfram Dressler, Philip Hirsch and Phuc Xuan To. Supported by the Australian Research Council, this group has been studying dramatic and interactive processes of nature-society transformation associated with hydropower dams in the Mekong basin. Sango will discuss their rupture analytic, and how it helps to expose the complex temporal, spatial and generative dimensions of adverse forms of environmental change. 

Bio: Sango Mahanty is a Professor at the Australian National University, Australia. She is a human geographer who currently studies the politics of green economies, frontier markets and dramatic nature-society transformation in mainland Southeast Asia
