In 2019 the Leaders of the Pacific Island Forum, including Australia, called for the Office of the United Nations Human Rights Commission to conduct an independent investigation into the human rights situation in Indigenous West Papua. Since 2019 permission for this visit has not been granted by the Indonesian government. This seminar will focus on the European, Pacific and West Papuan efforts to progress international attention of human rights abuses that are taking place in West Papua, including the large-scale displacement of around 70-80,000 people.

The event will take place in person at the Molonglo Theatre, as well as online via Zoom. Register here for the Zoom link or use the button on the right hand side to register for the in person event.
