Food and nutritional security are the foundations of a decent life, good health, sound educationand, indeed, the achievement of all the Millennium Development Goals. Food Security is the basisfor economic development and social stability. It is also an important prerequisite for nationalndependence and world peace. The global food insecurity situation continues to worsen andrepresents a serious threat for humanity. Recurrent droughts and crippling crop failures all overthe world are combining to set the stage for a potentially frightening food crisis. Will the worldbe facing a devastating food crisis by the beginning of 2010? Will shortage of food result inviolence and starvation deaths in the near future? Mr Kaarthikeyan will discuss the causes for theunprecedented Global Food Crisis and the possible cure to save humanity from the impendingcatastrophe.
