It will shortly be three years since the Basin Plan was enacted, five years since the Guide to the Proposed Murray-Darling Basin Plan was released and 20 years since the cap on surface water extractions was introduced into the Murray-Darling Basin. In 2015 and beyond, these policy developments will be tested.
This public symposium is a one-day event that will provide diverse views and perspectives of the science of the Basin Plan and the socio-economics, and community impact of the multibillion dollar Australian Government Water for the Future package, as it pertains to the Basin. The symposium will audit what the Basin Plan and Water for the Future package have delivered to date, and what they might be expected to deliver for farmers, communities and the environment into the future.
