Catherine Thebridge
I have over 30 years work experience in the Australian Public service, with most of my career spent in strategic policy as a policy analyst and adviser. This included being a member of the following review teams: Working Age Payment Reform (2002-2004); Pension Review and Tax-Transfer Taskforces (2008-09, Director Policy and Analysis), Family Payment Reform (2011, Director, Payment Analysis and Design), Welfare Payments Reform (2014-16), Director, Analysis and Design).
Policy and research achievements include:
- Secure and Sustainable Pensions (2009 Budget)
- Supporting Families with Teenagers (2011 Budget)
- More Generous Means Testing for Families (2015 Budget)
- Presented at the Australian Social Policy Conference (July 2011) research on the Timing of Family Tax Benefit receipt that helped change perceptions on FTB income test design, in particular how low to middle income families interact with the annual income test.
- Presented at the Australian Institute of Family Studies Conference (July 2012) on the introduction and impact of the Supporting Families with Teenagers measure. The measure ensured families no longer experienced a drop in income when a child reached 16 years of age, supporting secondary school completion by improving assistance and work incentives for parents.
