Dr Jing Wu
Dr Jing Wu is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Climate and Energy Policy (CCEP), Crawford School of Public Policy. With a background in spatial planning and public policy, her work focuses on energy transitions, climate governance, and sustainable urban and industrial development.
Her research examines how policy, institutions, and planning systems shape decision-making in complex, multi-actor settings. Adopting a multidisciplinary approach, she draws on transition studies, institutional analysis, and spatial planning to understand the drivers of low-carbon transformation, particularly in energy- and emissions-intensive sectors.
Since joining CCEP, Jing’s research has centred on the governance of energy and industrial transitions in China and the Asia-Pacific. She explores policy pathways for deep decarbonisation and their implications for economic restructuring and socio-environmental outcomes. At ANU, she contributes to research on green iron and steel supply chains, analysing the conditions needed to support low-emissions production and emerging regional value chains.
Prior to joining ANU, Jing was an Assistant Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. She received her PhD in Spatial Planning and Environment from the University of Groningen in 2021. Her work has been published in leading journals, including Nature, Energy Policy, Journal of Cleaner Production, Cities, and Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews.
Before academia, Jing worked as a senior consultant at Savills, contributing to projects on urban and regional development and strategic planning across domestic and international contexts. This experience informs her commitment to connecting research with practice, producing insights that support real-world transitions.
