PhD in Economics, The Australian National University; Master’s degree in International and Development Economics, The Australian National University

(Nhat) Mai Nguyen is the Water Justice Hub Manager and a Research Associate at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University. With a decade of experience as an economist and policymaker at the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment, she has honed her expertise in researching and proposing policies and strategies in international and domestic trade in Vietnam. She also has experience in managing funding and projects across the public sector (public investment projects), private sector, and academia.

Mai holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics and a Master’s degree in International and Development Economics from ANU, where she was an Endeavour Leadership Program and Australia Awards scholar.

Research Interest

Her current research spans crucial areas such as:

  • Water,
  • Food security,
  • International trade,
  • Environmental economics, and
  • Economic growth.
