Brett MacDonald joined the National Security College in April 2016 as Manager of Course Development and Delivery in the Executive and Professional Development team, on secondment from the Australian Federal Police. His career has included roles in adult education, human resource (HR) and project management, with over 25 years’ experience across a number of government agencies including Australian Tax Office, Defence and the Australian Federal Police.
Brett also worked for CARE Australia between 1992 and 1994, travelling to Jordan, where he worked as the HR Manager for the Middle East Office, supporting humanitarian initiatives in Palestine, Iraq, Yemen and Rwanda.
Brett founded the eLearning team within Defence that developed and delivered the Defence eLearning Strategy, winning the International 2005 Computerworld Honors Award. More recently, he lead the HR team that was responsible for the coordination of the deployment, management and safe return of AFP officers to Ukraine in response to the Malaysian aircraft disaster (MH-17), for which he was awarded the AFP Operational Medal.
Brett holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Education, and is certified in Project and Portfolio Management, Benefits Management and Organisational Change.
