Dr Nematullah Bizhan is a Lecturer working in Port Moresby as part of our partnership with UPNG. He is also a Research Fellow at Oxford University where he studies the role of identities and networks in establishing state legitimacy and effectiveness in fragile and conflict-affected societies.
Additionally, he is working with the Commission on State Fragility, Growth and Development, a joint initiative of the Oxford University’s Blavatnik School of Government and the London School of Economics (LSE). He has a PhD in Political Science and International Relations from the Australian National University and was previously a high-level participant in the post-2001 government of Afghanistan. His research focuses on international development, state building and legitimacy in conflict-affected and fragile societies, public policy and political economy.
