Sharon Dean joined the National Security College in October 2016 as the Director for Strategy and Development on secondment from the Office of National Assessments.
Her key focus is preparing the College for the longer term including: facilitating the NSC’s strategic relationships with public and private sector partners; responding to requests for tender; preparing the NSC’s strategic, financial and business plans; and providing secretariat services for the NSC Advisory Board.
Sharon’s recent government roles have included evaluating and coordinating matters of common interest across the Australian Intelligence Community (including priority setting); and investigating the legality and propriety of intelligence activities as a Principal Reviewer within the Office of the Inspector-general of Intelligence and Security. Appointments earlier in her career were in Ministerial and Parliamentary Services, in International Relations fields and in the Royal Australian Navy.
Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Political Science (UNSW) and a Bachelor of Asian Studies (ANU), and is a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy.
