Ms Thuy-Linh Bui
Thuy-Linh Bui is a PhD Candidate in Economics at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University, where she is supervised by Professor Shiro Armstrong, Professor David Stern, and Associate Professor Yixiao Zhou.
Her research focuses on the intersection of international trade, environmental economics, and applied econometrics. Topics that she is studying include examining how trade liberalisation affects emissions embodied in trade through the Pollution Haven Hypothesis, analysing the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement, and investigating how major trade disruptions such as the US-China Trade War influence energy intensity in manufacturing sectors through global value chains. She also serves as a Research Officer at the Centre for Climate & Energy Policy (CCEP) at ANU, contributing to the assessment of the global energy transition.
Thuy-Linh earned an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Economics (EGEI) from the University of Bari (Italy), Ghent University (Belgium), and the University of Tartu (Estonia) and holds a Bachelor of Economics from the National Economics University (Vietnam). Having navigated different academic systems across multiple countries, she understands the international student experience and is happy to help others where possible.
