The re-emergence of Asia’s economic and political power is set to be the biggest story of the 21st Century. If economic and demographic trends continue, Asia will contribute 51 percent of world GDP by 2050, a rise from its already significant 27 percent.

As Asian economies continue to grow there will be profound changes in world economic and political order. Many analysts predict the traditional strongholds of economic and political power will continue their relative decline enabling the Asian economies to take a more prominent role in world affairs.

The Crawford School Dialogue will consider the likely economic, political and strategic challenges in the region and what more can be done to position Australia for the Asian Century.
