Fourth Australasian development economics workshop

The annual Australasian Development Economics Workshop series brings together development economists from around Australia, New Zealand and our neighbouring regions. The next workshop, the fourth in the series, will be hosted by the Economics Department, RSPAS, The Australian National University (ANU) with financial support from the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).

Keynote address

Professor Ross Garnaut presented the Sixth H.W. Arndt Memorial Lecture, titled Measuring the Immeasurable: The Costs and Benefits of Climate Change Mitigation [154KB PDF] at The Australian National University, on Thursday 5th June 2008

Workshop

The Honorable Bob McMullan, Parliamentary Secretary for International Development Assistance opened the Fourth ADEW conference.

A total of 42 workshop participants represented 17 universities from six countries, with a total of 25 papers focusing on aspects of Development Economics. The event also enabled active participation of PhD students and recent Australian graduates.

A special feature of the workshop was the AusAID session that comprised two invited guest speakers (Arsenio Balisacan, University of the Philippines and Professor Vijay Naidu, University of the South Pacific) who presented papers on policy issues of significant importance to AusAID.
