Ross Garnaut is Chairman of the China Economy Program. Ross Garnaut is an economist whose career has been built around the analysis of and practice of policy connected to development, economic policy and international relations in Australia, Asia and the Pacific. He has held senior roles in universities, business, government and other Australian and international institutions.

In 2009 Ross was awarded the degree of Doctor of Letters, honoris causa, from the Australian National University and in 2013 he received a Doctor of Science in Economics, honoris causa, from the University of Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Sciences and a Distinguished Fellow of the Economic Society of Australia. In addition, Ross is a Distinguished Life Member of the Australian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society and also an Honorary Professor of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He is also Professor Emeritus at the University of Melbourne.

Ross Garnaut has led many high-level Government Reviews and Commissions, including the preparation of the Report to the Australian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister ‘Australia and the Northeast Asian Ascendency’ (1989); the Review of the Wool Industry (1993); the Review of Commonwealth-State Funding (2002); and the Garnaut Climate Change Review (2008). Ross was appointed as an independent expert advisor to the Multi-Party Climate Change Committee in September 2010 and was commissioned in November 2010 by the Minister for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency to update significant elements of his 2008 Climate Change Review.

Ross was Head of the Economics Department and Division of the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at the Australian National University for over a decade from 1989. He played leading roles from the mid-seventies until 2009 in building the Australian National University’s capacity in research and graduate education on Southeast Asia, China (including as Chairman of the China Economy and Business Program), and South Asia.

Yixiao Zhou is an Associate Professor of Economics at the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics and Director of China Economy Program at Crawford School of Public Policy. Yixiao’s research work focuses on three areas: global macroeconomics, the role of technology and innovation in economic growth, and the Chinese economy. Yixiao also serves as President of the Chinese Economics Society of Australia (CESA) and Editor-in-Chief of Asian-Pacific Economic Literature. Yixiao earned her PhD in Economics from ANU, and her Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Science from Peking University. She is passionate about teaching and mentoring students for advanced, cutting-edge and innovative research with policy impact.

Ligang Song is a Professor of Economics in Arndt-Corden Department of Economics at the Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University. His research interests include international economics, institutional economics, development economics and policy studies, and the Chinese economy. He was the long-serving Director of China Economy Program. Professor Song has been involved in organising the annual China Update conferences at ANU since 1998 and co-editing the China Update book series with ANU Press since 2002 and jointly with Social Sciences Academy Press of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences since 2007.

Wei Jin is a Professor in the College of Economics and Management at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Prior to that, he held academic positions at Tianjin University, the University of New South Wales, and Zhejiang University. His research focuses on economic growth, macroeconomics, environmental and natural resource economics, with an expertise in green growth, low-carbon transitions, and green innovation. He received his PhD in Economics from the Australian National University. His research works have been published in leading journals such as Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Resource and Energy Economics, and Energy Journal, as well as in top-tier Chinese journals such as Economic Research Journal (Jin Ji Yan Jiu in Chinese《经济研究》) . His research has been supported by competitive grants from National Social Science Fund of China.
