COVID-19 – the Pacific response: 8 April 2020

08 April 2020

As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds, the Australia Pacific Security College (PSC) is committed to helping you keep track of what is happening in the Pacific islands region and understand the security implications.

Each week, in a special ‘Pacific In Focus’ section, we will be publishing blogs for the Asia Pacific Policy Forum that deal with COVID-19 and related security issues. The blogs will analyse the evolving trends in government responses across the region to COVID-19, and other pressing or emerging security issues affecting our environments, community and nations. We hope that by providing these succinct pieces each week, we can assist in your knowledge of how our region is responding to unprecedented human and environment security issues.

To accompany these short blogs, we will also produce a weekly overview matrix which will track travel restrictions, as well as the economic and health policies implemented by each Pacific island country and territory. Scroll to the bottom of the ‘Pacific In Focus’ blog, and click on the box titled ‘COVID-19 Pacific Island Response Matrix’ to access.

If you would like to contribute, or know of any policy updates, key sources or corrections, please do not hesitate to contact PSC: psc@anu.edu.au.

Hugh McClure is a Research Officer at the Australia Pacific Security College.
