The future of democracy and elections
Supported by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), the International Institute of Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), the ANU National Security College (NSC) held an event to highlight the future of elections in Australia.
The event was opened with introductory remarks from Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Cyber Security the Hon Clare O’Neil MP and AEC Commissioner Tom Rogers as they highlighted the key challenges faced by Australia’s democracy.
The opening remarks were followed by a panel discussion on the future of elections and how public trust in the integrity of our electoral systems can be strengthened. The panel was chaired by Ms Therese Pearce Laanela, Head of Electoral Processes, International IDEA (Chair) and featured experts like:

The event brought together actors from across government, civil society and academia for an interactive discussion.
