Crawford School of Public Policy

Crawford School staff will be growing policy ideas and projects through funding from the ANU Policy Greenhouse Fund.

Under the new scheme, researchers around ANU can apply for funding to develop policy ideas and undertake short- to medium-term projects with high public policy value.

In the first round of funding, Crawford faculty are involved in five successful tier 2 bids, and one successful tier 1 bid. Tier 2 funding is $75,000, and tier one is $5000.

The successful Tier 2 projects include Professor Sharon Bessell and Dr Angie Bexley looking at new approaches to addressing childhood poverty; Associate Professor Sara Bice and Dr Kirsty Jones doing a project on community co-design; Associate Professor Jane Golley working with Professor Anthea Roberts at RegNet and Dr Darren Lim of the School of Politics and International Relations on Australian policy choices in a new geoeconomic world order; Dr Jennifer Hunt’s ‘Developing policy solutions for cyber security’; and Professor Frank Jotzo, Dr Rebecca Colvin, and Dr Paul Wyrwoll’s work into supporting economic and social transformation in Australia’s coal-producing areas.

Tier 1 funding was also awarded to Paul Wrywoll, this time to work on a project on performance-based climate finance.

This is the first round of grants from the ANU Policy Greenhouse Fund. The grants aim to encourage collaboration within the university, as well as build direct engagement opportunities and enhance connections between ANU and policymakers.
