Prof. Dr. Ulrike Grote is a distinguished agricultural economist and academic, currently serving as the Director of the Institute for Environmental Economics and World Trade at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany.

She holds a PhD from the University of Kiel (1994) and completed her “Habilitation” from the University of Bonn (2004). In 2006, she was appointed as Professor at Leibniz University Hannover. Before this, she worked at the OECD, Paris and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila, and was a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Development Research (ZEF), Bonn. Her research interests focus on environmental and development economics in Asia and Africa, covering topics like rural transformation, migration, certification, trade, and agricultural and climate policy. She has served on various advisory boards, including the German Advisory Council on Global Change, the German Bioeconomy Council, and since 2025, the Scientific Advisory Board for Biodiversity and Genetic Resources.
