Throughout 2013, the HC Coombs Policy Forum will be hosting a series of seminars to debate and progress thinking on the workforce participation challenges that Australia faces now and in the future.

Older workers are a significant and growing group within Australia’s workforce. At this lecture, Professor Bob Gregory will set out new analysis of the employment trends of mature-aged workers and the reasons for these changes. Bob will demonstrate the impact of recent policy changes and discuss why the workforce adjustment to longer life expectancy has not been stronger.

Bob Gregory is Professor Emeritus at the ANU, Professorial Fellow at Victoria University, Melbourne Institute of Applied Economics and Social Research and Adjunct Professor, Queensland University of Technology. He has been closely involved in the analysis and development of Australian economic policy. He was a member of the recent Pension Review, principal consultant in a series of government Aged Care Reviews, and a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia.

This lecture is free and open to the public, and will be followed by light refreshments.
