Kecak dance comes to the ANU

The Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, in collaboration with the ANU Indonesia Project and the Indonesian Student Association, hosted a Kecak dance performance in Kambri. The Kecak dance, also known as a fire dance, is a Balinese Hindu dance that utilizes solely human voices for music and accompaniment. With the sound of chanting voices, dramatic movements, and fire-lit energy, a story deeply rooted in Balinese tradition was shared right in the heart of the ANU campus. Led by renowned choreographer Mr. A.A. Susila Panji, the event was an invitation to students from the ANU Indonesia Project and the Indonesian Embassy to experience this traditional Balinese dance. We were blessed with incredible weather, and thank the Kambri team, the Indonesian Embassy, and the ANU community for coming out in force to celebrate the dance. It was wonderful to bring Bali to Canberra.
