Evaluation of international aid effectiveness is a crucial element in increasing that aid’s impact on reducing poverty and inequality, stimulating growth and building capacity. The Office of Development Effectiveness (ODE) is an independent unit within AusAID designed to build stronger evidence for more effective aid. The newly announced Independent Evaluations Committee (IEC) has been established to strengthen the independence and credibility of the work of the ODE.

This workshop will promote analysis and review of recent evaluations released by the ODE. It will also include a broader discussion of the role of the ODE and its plans for the future. The Development Policy Centre at Crawford School will host the Head of ODE and bring together panels of stakeholders to discuss the importance and impact of two key reports, on civil society and the Philippines, published by ODE this year. The workshop will conclude with a keynote presentation from the recently announced chair of AusAID’s new IEC, Jim Adams. There will be ample time for Q&A.
