High noise levels in urbanised cities adversely affect the mental and physical health of residents. However, control of noise is costly. In order to inform the design of Singapore’s noise regulations, this seminar will present a model to determine the efficient level of noise pollution. The model requires information on the marginal benefits and marginal costs of noise abatement. Hence, an innovative choice modelling survey to estimate the marginal benefits of noise abatement in Singapore is proposed. This survey improves on prior studies by providing participants with an accurate representation of real-world noise levels.
