From the recent budget’s suggested changes to HECS to developing our TAFEs, and from reforming research funding to developing world-class universities, the tertiary education system is front page news.

In this Lunchbox Debate – a special event of Policy Outlook 2014 - a panel of leading experts will look at the measures affecting tertiary education in this year’s budget. The panellists will discuss the proposed changes to HECS, the plans for university deregulation and how the government has argued its proposed changes to the electorate.

Panellists include Editor of The Australian’s Higher Education section Julie Hare, the architect of the HECS system Professor Bruce Chapman, former CEO of Universities Australia Professor Glenn Withers, and John Niland AC, who is a former Vice Chancellor of UNSW and a former President of the Group of Eight Universities.

This event forms part of the activities of ANU Policy Outlook 2014 at ANU Public Policy Week. Spaces are strictly limited, but the event will be livestreamed for those not able to make it along on the day.

Attendees will enjoy a very special lunchbox from Autolyse Bakery in Braddon.
