In this seminar Dr Mukherjee will provide an overview of taxation reform in India, based on his paper Present state of GST reform in India

Dr Sacchidananda Mukherjee is an Associate Professor at the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), New Delhi. Before joining NIPFP, he was with International Water Management Institute (IWMI), Hyderabad and World Wide Fund for Nature-India, New Delhi. He is working on public finance, environmental economics and water resources management issues in India for the last decade. Dr Mukherjee has studied at the Madras School of Economics, Chennai (PhD in Economics from University of Madras) and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi (MA in Economics). He has conducted research projects funded by various Departments of Government of India and International Development Agencies and published his research papers in national and international peer reviewed journals.

The event will be chaired by Professor Raghbendra Jha, Arndt-Corden Department of Economics, Crawford School, ANU College of Asia and the Pacific, and the commentator is Professor Miranda Stewart, ANU.
