Crawford School Director Professor Helen Sullivan has been named a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA) – the highest award handed out by the organisation.

Professor Sullivan was given the award at the IPAA Awards’ night held in Canberra on Tuesday.

The IPAA is the nationwide professional association for those involved in public administration. It aims to promote good governance, encourage excellence in the provision of public services, and contribute to the development of public policy and management practices that enhance the performance of the public sector.

The National Fellowship is the highest award that the IPAA offers, and in the last 34 years has been awarded to just 241 people.

Dean of the College of Asia and the Pacific Professor Michael Wesley said the award recognises Professor Sullivan’s standing in Australian public administration.

“This award recognises Helen’s commitment to excellence in public administration and public policy. It’s a rare honour, but one well deserved,” he said.

“The award also highlights both Helen’s and Crawford School’s strong and established connections with the public service community in Australia.

“I congratulate Helen on this award on behalf of the School, College and ANU community.”
