Jennifer was restless in her government job. She found herself reminiscing about her passion for geography and contemplating what direction to take next.

For six years she pondered these feelings, until she found the Master of Environmental Management and Development.

Now, a combination of working and studying full-time has her charging towards her goal to work in renewable energy policy for the United Nations Environment Programme.

“The main thing that motivates me is hearing about all the amazing work undertaken by my Professors and peers, and how they are involved in their relevant field. This, combined with learning new concepts really inspires me do my best work” says Jennifer.

Down the track Jennifer is keen to take her expertise to Europe where the renewable energy sector is a growing industry.

“Many European countries already have a strong focus on renewable energy technologies. I’m specifically interested in shaping policy around these practices and technologies. To work in Europe would be a fantastic opportunity to learn about current and emerging trends in the sector. It is this degree that can hopefully get me there” said Jennifer.

Although her schedule is always full, Jennifer has pushed herself to shape her career goals.

“I love being at the Crawford School which is such a tight-knit community of students and some of the world’s best academics – they all keep me focused on where I want to go and what comes next” said Jennifer.

Jennifer has recently been accepted by the International Forestry Students’ Association (IFSA) to represent their ANU Local Committee as a delegate at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - Conference of the Parties (COP22) in Marrakesh this November. This will provide invaluable experience for Jennifer’s career, and act as a key platform for sharing the work of IFSA.
