Inform and influence decision making and policy design in the government, business and community sectors with your policy analysis specialisation.

  • Degree specialisation to prepare current and future policymakers for policy analysis roles in all sectors
  • Deeper understanding of policy analysis approaches
  • Develop analytical and critical thinking competencies

This degree specialisation is for current and future policymakers with the ambition to pursue policy analysis roles in the government, business, and community sectors. It will deepen your understanding of approaches to policy analysis, and prepare you to develop, implement and evaluate public policy.

You will develop specific and relevant policy analysis skills – in different traditions – that will enable you to effectively evaluate appropriate analytical methods in response to different kinds of policy questions. Your ability to clarify values, arguments and mediating interests will give you a strong foundation to inform policy design.

Through your electives, you’ll explore different forms of policy analysis – cost-benefit analysis, statistical and econometric analysis, and stakeholder analysis.

When you graduate, you will be prepared to analyse public policy problems using quantitative and qualitative methods, and will effectively interpret, present and communicate results.
