Australasian Aid Conference
Crawford School will host the Asia-Pacific region’s leading forum on aid and development over three days from Monday.
The annual Australasian Aid Conference kicks off with a panel discussion about aid in the Pacific on Monday afternoon featuring Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Secretary Frances Adamson, members from the Asian Development Bank and Dr Shiro Armstrong, Director of the East Asian Bureau of Economic Research at ANU.
Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs Senator the Hon Penny Wong will deliver the conference opening address on Tuesday morning.
Other highlights include:
- Keynote address by President Emeritus Nancy Birdsville from Washington’s Centre for Global Development Centre;
- A panel of experts will look at health threats to the region and Australia’s response;
- International Photo Journalist Nick Danziger will discuss his work across four continents documenting the lives of women and children. His photo exhibition, “Revisited, 2005-2010-2015” at the Drill Hall Gallery is open during the conference; and
- The winner of the second Mitchell Humanitarian Award, honouring a significant contribution to international development, will be announced.
