All students are expected to attend live sessions at particular times each week for their courses. International students studying on an Australian student visa should enrol in in-person courses.

Program overview

Are you searching for a holistic way to better understand the economies of the Asia-Pacific region? Are you keen to improve your ability to analyse policy challenges facing Asia-Pacific economies? The Graduate Certificate of Asia-Pacific Economies will provide you with tools to understand and analyse key economies in the region and help put your career on a regionally-focused trajectory.

In just six months (or equivalent part time), the new Graduate Certificate program will enable you to understand key aspects of the region’s economies and have the skills to analyse policy challenges facing countries in the region.

Is this program for me?

The short program is designed to suit both students with an economics background and those without prior study of economics.

The program caters to a diverse range of participants who are seeking to upskill or retrain: from policymakers working in government agencies and non-government organisations, to professionals in industry with portfolios related to countries in the Asia-Pacific, to university graduates seeking to enhance their qualifications in a competitive employment environment.

Why choose the Graduate Certificate of Asia-Pacific Economies?

In a world with ever-growing complexity and uncertainty, the dynamic and populous Asia-Pacific region has experienced robust economic development in the past decades and also faces various challenges. This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to successfully confront challenges in your work related to economies in the region and build a solid foundation for potential further study.

When studying the program, you will join an internationally-renowned network of leading economic practitioners and researchers at the Crawford School of Public Policy.

After graduation, you will be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of economies in the Asia-Pacific region, apply economic logic and tools to analyse key issues in economies in the region, and construct arguments that build off the academic literature on Asia-Pacific economies.

Learn in a multi-modal environment to best suit your current arrangements

The program offers the flexibility to take courses specific to your career goals. These include The Chinese Economy, Islamic Economies in Practice, and more.

Credit towards your Master of International and Development Economics

You may also wish to consider extending your Graduate Certificate to complete the Master of International and Development Economics. Your study in the Graduate Certificate will be considered towards credit for the Master degree.
